Horn of Oil 2019 Day 6
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
Have you ever had a situation that tugged at your faith? Ever encounter a problem that came along and challenged the very core of what you believe is possible? Believe it or not many of Jesus’ disciples suffered from unbelief. How can we be a believer lack faith?
Our Horn of Oil today explores believers who struggle with unbelief. Our scripture begins when Jesus was speaking to his disciples who had just failed to minister deliverance for an epileptic little boy. The boy’s Father became frustrated when the disciples were unable to deliver and turned to Jesus and asked for mercy. Of course, Jesus delivered the young boy from the demonic spirits and the disciples were bewildered, considering that they had done everything that Jesus did. The disciples went to Jesus to question why their ministering had not worked for the young child. There are times in our ministry or even in our personal lives when we are faced with difficult situations. We pray, we seek the Lord consistently, read our regular go to scriptures and as you always do, plead with the Lord for help, but you see no results or power that renders a breakthrough. We can learn from the disciples in this situation, they did not get mad and storm away, or become prideful and say nothing, they simply asked Jesus, why they could not cast out the devil.
Jesus’ response was very clear; you suffer from unbelief. He further explained that their own unbelief had rendered them powerless. Thus, HE advised them that they needed to fast and pray to deal with their own lack of faith in the situation because all they needed was just a mustard seed of faith to bring results. When you are not seeing results from seeking the Lord, examine your own unbelief in the situation. We sometimes have hidden unbelief that hinders our breakthrough.
When we run into difficult or impossible situations or problems be mindful that unbelief can be a spirit that will invade your thoughts and block your effectiveness. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)
Before we can go to the Lord and ask for help, we must believe that Jesus IS able to fix it. We must first believe that your situation is not too hard for God! (Jeremiah 32:27) (Matthew 19:26)
Sometimes we speak unbelief over our own situations then we go and ask God to work what we don’t believe.
Here are a few statements of unbelief:
“That will never happen……”
“He/She/They will never……”
“I don’t have…..”
“The doctor said…..”
We must show our belief in God’s hand to move in our situation by speaking the things into existence that we believe HE can change.
“Lord, I know you will shine a light in my dark situation….” (Gen 1:3)
“By Jesus’ stripes I am/you are healed..” (Isaiah 53:5)
“Lord, you will provide according…” (Philippians 4:19)
When we don’t believe in Jesus’ power to overcome, bring healing, provide, cast out, remove or rebuke, you render your prayers ineffective. It is the fervent effective prayers of the righteous that avail much. (James 5:16) Those are mustard seed prayers that believe God can do all things! God must perform what HE said he will! (Jeremiah 1:12)
Do you believe that the Words of God are true? Then speak what you believe from HIS Word!
When you end up with not productive prayers, don’t question God, question your unbelief in HIS power to answer. Then fast (repent) and pray for more faith in God to do what HE said He can do.
Remember: Unbelief does not discriminate, it is expected for non-believers, but unbelief also attacks believers as well. Has unbelief crept into your mind?
Daniel Fast Day 6: Fast, Repent and Pray, Lord help my unbelief!
